Our condolences to the LEONARD ZEIS family.  Leonard passed away on February 24th at the age of eighty-four.  Leonard worked in the operations department at Express Freight Lines for many years and was well respected by all who came in contact with him.  He will be missed by his family and friends.  May he rest in peace.  FATHER FRANK SANFALEPPIO is having some health problems.  Presently Father is on oxygen twenty-four hours per day due to emphysema and has had surgery for prostate cancer.  Please remember him in your prayers.  RED SCHELLER is presently in Florida visiting family and friends.  He plans on playing a great deal of golf.  Prior to leaving he called BILL MAILE, BUZ LONGSTAFF and PAT WYNN to see if they had been involved in the bad storm that hit The Villages as all of those people live in that area.  Thank goodness that all escaped any damage that took place.  LILA VIRTA another resident of The Villages said the worst damage was about two miles south of their complex.  RED will be back in our locale the end of March and will be faced with the chore of moving to another location.  KAREN KACZMAREK left for Cozumel, Mexico on February 3rd for a nice vacation with 20 friends.  Their aim was to just relax and have fun.  Although the weather did not cooperate they enjoyed every minute.  BOB JOHNSON had hip surgery at The University Hospital in Madison on February 5th.  Everything went well and Bob is in therapy to test the results of the operation.  Bob’s wife KAY was also a patient but is now home recuperating.  JIM PEAVLER a CSX retiree reports that his wife DOTTIE is ill.  JIM MCMAHON is in Florida and is hopeful he will be able to spend his entire vacation this year as illness interrupted his stay last year.  FRANK KIRSCHBRAUN HAD SURGERY ON February 19th, we wish him a speedy recovery.  RUSS SEARING’S wife BARB is undergoing a new type of treatment and is hopeful this will be the solution to her problem.  JACK FITZGERALD sold his condo and has moved to an assisted living home.  His new residence will be Lincoln Square, 1820 South 75th Street Milwaukee, WI  53214.  We wish Jack well in his new location.  We had to cancel our January retiree’s luncheon due to bad weather; however five of our hale and hardy men namely ARDEN KRAHN, ERV LAUTER, TOM ENGLE, HANK HOFMAN and FRITZ THORN made it to the restaurant and had a nice luncheon.  The restaurant extended the same courtesies we normally have as a group.  We received a request from DAVID CREASY who writes:

Hi my Wisconsin friends.  I’ve been in Las Vegas almost 7 years and am not coming back to Wisconsin.  I have 2 plots in Wisconsin Memorial Park for sale.  Needless to say I have no use for them as I will be buried in Boulder City, Nevada.  There are two plots and one three foot by three foot headstone.  The bronze headstone can be taken out.  The bronze headstone now costs over $3,000.00 and the plots sell for $1300.00 each.   I am asking $1500.00 for the two plots and the bronze headstone.  If anyone is interested give me a call at 702-456-9825 or e-mail me at nevdream1@yahoo.com.

The “HENS” is the name that VINCE EMANUELE gave his wife ROSE’S group of girls she belongs to.  The group was initiated in 1936 by seven Riverside High School students.  They have been meeting for over 70 years.  They have no dues, business meetings or other duties.  Most of the meetings are now being held at the Italian Community Center but occasionally one of the girls will host the luncheon at her home.  Four of the present group of nine are charter members.  Rose’s husband Vince is the only living spouse.  They will be married sixty-five years this year.  There was a nice article in the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL/SENTINEL regarding this group.  The Woman’s Auxiliary of the Milwaukee Traffic Club which was a thriving organization but no longer in being came into the conversation.

There are only three members of that group still living.  Besides ROSE they are DOROTHY BUNDESON and LAVERNE (COWEN) SHIRLEY.  DOROTHY MAKSIMOWICZ passed away a few weeks ago.  ROSE and VINCE extended their best wishes to all of their transportation friends.  Vince was the Traffic Manager for Albert Trostel Company and Findley Adhesives, Inc. and a harder worker was never found.  PAUL KUSCHMANN son of ART KUSCHMANN drives his father to our luncheons as Art’s eyesight has dwindles and he can no longer drive.  On the way to the luncheon they stopped at a Wal-Mart store to pick up a few items.  While in the store someone came along with a key or a sharp object and put some deep scratches on the sides of Paul’s auto to the tune of $700.00.  The JIM CONLEY’S celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in sunny Florida.  Jim enjoys golf but said that at this time the score doesn’t matter.  He is a certified Aerobic Teacher and teaches two days a week.  JIM KINCAID and RUTH ANN left for Florida on New Year’s Eve and will be spending time at their Florida locale.  FRANK KIRSCHBRAUN and ED FRANKEN had lunch and enjoyed a wonderful get together.  JERRY ALBRENT had a cat scan taken a short time ago and the lung tumor has gotten a bit smaller and the brain tumor is doing quite well.  JIM KRUEGER drove up to Wisconsin to spend the holidays with his family.  Jim extends best wishes to all of his transportation friends.  PETE MARTIN who worked in the Rexnord Traffic Department for many years died unexpectedly in December while coming home from church.  Pete also worked in the motor carrier field.  Our sympathies go out to his family and friends.  Understand that BILL LEVINE will soon be moving to a new residence.  AL THOM is in a rehab center under going treatment after having fallen in his back yard during the extreme cold weather.  Al was outside for over three hours and could have frozen to death.  He is coming along well in his treatment although one foot was badly frozen.  JOHN BIALOCZNSKI visited family and friends in North Carolina, Georgia and Florida.  From their home in Pahhrump, Nevada DEL and PEGGY BRAHM visited their oldest son and daughter-in-law in Las Vegas.  While there they met BONNIE CRAWFORD for breakfast.  BONNIE is quite happy with her retirement home in Summerlin on the northwest side of Vegas.  DEL also called DAVE and TERRI CREASY to join them but Dave said 9 a.m. was too early, like having a midnight snack.  DEL was debating whether this happens when you retire or are newly married.  If you have any news items please call me at 262-717-0220, if I am not available please leave the message on the voice mail.  Best wishes to all.
