Our condolences to the BOB NEILL
family, the TED KOCH family, the EARL DUNST family, and
the ART BOHLE family. Bob was traffic manager at Sterling
Wheelbarrow Company and Neilson Wheel Company. Bob was a graduate
of the Marquette University School of Business Administration and a
great sports fan. He played semi-pro baseball at second base and
was very dedicated to all of Horicon’s sports activities as he grew up
there. Ted worked for Eaxor Motor Express and then left the
transportation field. His brother Dave was also in the motor
carrier field working in sales at Scherer Freight Lines. Earl
handled the traffic duties at Delta Oil Products and was also an
ordained minister. Art passed away on May 16th at the age of
ninety-four. He worked for many years as district sales manager
for the Grand Trunk Western CNN Railroad. Art served three years
in the U.S. Army in the European Theater and was a member of the
Cudworth Post for over fifty years. We also lost ROMAN RESKE,
a brother of RALPH RESKE. All of these fine gentlemen will
be missed by their family and friends, please keep them in your prayers.
Congratulations to JIM MCMAHON
who received the TAMI service award for 2006. Jim has volunteered
his time and work for many years. Each year Jim is the chairman
for the Children’s Christmas Party. Jim’s son Tom accepted the
award as Jim was under the weather. This award couldn’t be given
to a more deserving or nicer person. ART KUSCHMAN is still
recovering from his surgery and celebrated his 88th birthday on May
14th. DEL TREICHLER and Margie celebrated their 58th
wedding anniversary on May 1st. Congrats and many more healthy and
happy years. Shortly before their anniversary Del was in an
automobile accident and totaled his car. JERRY SCHMIDT and
Carol spent a 3 ½ week visit with their daughter in Dunedin, Florida
located about 3 miles north of Clearwater. Jerry advises that BOB
GRUVER and Donna have moved back to Milwaukee from sunny California.
DON DANIEL is doing well after his golfing accident which almost
required surgery to remove the leg. Don is very happy to be
getting around on his two legs. ARDEN KRAHN is busy getting
his summer home in order so they can enjoy the nice weather away from
home. JOHN BIALOZYNSKI’S wife Liz underwent Gamma-Knife
treatment at St. Luke’s Hospital and for the first time the tumor has
shrunk. ROY SCHULTZ’S wife has also had to undergo
Gamma-Knife treatment. Belated congratulations to JOHN ROSPLOCH
and his wife Joan who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
They took a 14 day cruise through the Panama Canal. They advised
it was quite a thrill to know that machines from Bucyrus Erie did most
of the digging. Bucyrus was John’s former employer. Our
best wishes and many more happy and healthy years. We have a
professional model in our group; FRANK KIRSHBRAUN is now featured
on George Webb placemats. Good to see that smiling face. ROD
MURPHY visited us from Detroit, Michigan. He renewed
acquaintances with old friends and joined us at our luncheon.
While here he joined RUSS SEARING to visit the Vatican Exhibit,
had breakfast with LEN ZEIS, dinner with TOM KRITNER and
lunch with FATHER SAN FELIPPO and CHUCK MENTKOWSKI.
Due to health problems it was his first trip alone in 10 years. FRED
HONKAMP had shoulder surgery which required him to cancel his trip
to Texas. BILL STIYER is still taking care of the finances
at Saint Catherine’s Church. BOB BECKWAHR spent 42 days
at West Bend Hospital where he underwent surgery and therapy. Bob
is the former traffic manager at West Bend Aluminum Company.

HANK HOFFMAN is doing well
after his surgery. CARL SMAIDA and Bernice spent a week
over the Easter Holiday visiting their daughter and family in St.
Paul, Minnesota. Thanks to Karen Kaczmarek for getting the
Scuttlebutt out to all of the retired members. “RED”
SCHELLER advises his wife Lenore is doing much better after having
fallen and breaking her arm below the shoulder. She was at
Linden Grove Rehab facility in New Berlin for an extended period of
time. JERRY NEIDINGER called from Erie, Pennsylvania to
inform us they had received 75 inches of snow. Twice as much as
we received. JACK NEUSWANGER almost lost his thumb while
doing some woodworking at home. His thumb got too close to the
power saw and he had 15 stitches to repair the wound. RUSS
SEARING will be taking a tour and visiting friends in Germany and
Austria the last two weeks of July. The JIM KRUEGERS were
in Wisconsin visiting their family and taking part in Baptisms and
school activities for their grandchildren. CHARLIE DYE
and his wife Helen have moved to assisted living in New Mexico.
Charlie is still active in his Army flight group. EDDIE
FRANKEN and FRANK KIRSCHBRAUN had lunch together and really
enjoyed the visit. Ed sends best wishes to all the
transportation people. The DEL BRAHMS are very proud of
their son Eric who received his Doctor of Political Science Degree
from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He plans on teaching
at the college level. CARL SMAIDA has had many surprise
meetings with fellow members outside the transportation field
activities. FATHER FRANK SAN FELIPPO is recovering well
from his surgery but he would like it to move a little faster. CHUCK
MENTKOWSKI is going on escort duty on June 28th. His wife
Marcia is on assignment to Switzerland and needs an escort. JEAN
KROLIKOWSKI called to thank everyone for their cards and prayers
and attending the service. Erv’s daughter was an outstanding
athlete at Pius High School and she was valedictorian of her
graduating class. She was awarded a scholarship to the
University of Virginia and will be graduating this year. It is
regrettable that Erv will not be here to see Lisa receive her diploma.
We know he will see her from above. ARLEEN KUSSARD
extends her thanks to everyone for remembering Jack. She has
become a great grandma, a baby boy born in Omro, Wisconsin. She
regrets that Jack could not be here for the blessed event.
Have a nice summer and enjoy yourself.
I will close with a few thoughts:
It’s nice to be important
But
it’s more important to be nice.
Anytime
is the right time to let someone know how much you care.
Where
integrity meets creativity vision naturally grows.
Only
love can be divided endlessly and still not diminish.
