March of this year the Scholarship
committee met to review and select our new 2006-2007 scholarship
recipient. The process for the determination is a review of
the applications, not knowing the names of the applicants or how
they are affiliated with our organization. The panel
consisting of Tom Krenz, Mike Coakley, and John Krenz review each
application and has an open discussion on each to determine the best
qualified. What seems to be a very simple process has taken
several hours at times because of the information and qualifications
that are presented to the committee.
This year's recipient is Marie McFarland, the grand
daughter of Jerry Le Sage. Marie is enrolled at the University
of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and plans to major in dentistry. Marie
will receive $500.00 for the next 4 years as she maintains the 3.0
grade point average that is required. We wish her the best in
her education goals.

The only fundraiser we have
for the Scholarship Fund is held during our Thanksgiving dinner in
November. Please watch for the flyer and the notice in the
NOIBN for the dates.
This year's fundraiser was a
greater success than last year's due to the generosity of many of
the members in their donations for the raffle and the purchasing of
the raffle tickets. The donation of two nights at the
Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells helped us surpass last year's
amount by several hundred dollars. It was a great feeling that
they have the foresight and understanding to help organizations like
ours to promote and help in the education of our young people.
As you plan your summer vacations we hope that you will consider a
stay at the Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells.
Have a great summer and we will see you at the
Scholarship Fund Raiser/Turkey Dinner in November.

Since Frank Schlieve has already scooped this
issue with the news that Eric Brahm has received his doctorate in
political science, I would like to add a little brag and sincere
appreciation to this TAMI organization, every TAMI member and the
Scholarship Committees, past and present. In May our entire
family attended Eric’s graduation in Colorado. He has signed
a contract with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas to be an
instructor in political science at UNLV starting in the fall
semester of this year.
|
Eric was the recipient of the TAMI
Scholarship in the early 90s and used it to help with his
undergraduate education tuition at Marquette University, including
one year at James Cook University in Townsville, Australia. I
am very proud of him and I am very proud to be affiliated with an
organization like TAMI.
I ask all members to submit a brag article
about your recipient. I know we would all like to know how the
TAMI Scholarships are benefiting our students.
