Committed to Being the Best

FALL
2005

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

For this issue we should rename this article “Acting President’s Message.”  As our secretary, Karen Kaczmarek, stated in the President’s Message in the last issue, our president, George Murphy, had to resign, because he accepted a new position, which puts him in an almost constant travel mode.  George was an ardent supporter of our association and a willing and active participant.  We all wish him the best.  Because I was first vice president, I am now acting president.

Another change we have to deal with is our editor.  Our NOIBN editor, Scott Warnkey, has also accepted a new position, and this gives him even less time than he had before.  His will be some big shoes to fill, because we won a number of awards from Traffic Clubs International (TCI) for our NOIBN.  Scott’s efforts were a big factor in winning these awards.  We all wish him the best also.  The board considered discontinuing the NOIBN, but many of us look forward to it, and Rachel Brahm offered to give it a try.  This issue is her first effort.  We will all assist her wherever possible.

Because postage and paper are getting to be more and more costly, we want to try to get as many members as possible on our email list to receive the NOIBN as well as program announcements.  We will certainly continue to send you the NOIBN and announcements, if you do not have email.  However, if you have email, please email Rachel at webmaster@tami-mke.org or me at delb@brahmintl.com.  You will help to save the club considerable costs.  This will also help us to get messages out to you quickly in case of need.

Please be sure to watch for information on the following programs:  Bingo Bash on October 16, 2005 (Packers bye week); Thanksgiving Dinner and Scholarship Fund Raiser on November 17, 2005; Christmas Party on December 10, 2005; Annual Awards Banquet in March/April, 2006; Transportation Week in May, 2006; Annual Golf Outing on August 9, 2006.

The board is also considering holding one or more educational programs during the season.  Some organizations hold educational seminars before or during other regular programs.  I don’t think our programs lend themselves to the addition of a seminar, so we can work on holding educational programs as a separate event.  If you have any thoughts about when or where to hold these programs, or a hot topic for a program, please let one of the board members know.
