Stress Busting Guide

6 Steps to De-stress

1.  Take 10 Find a quiet place to sit, take several slow, deep breaths twice a day and you will find your stress level dropping.

2.  Tune it out     Music has been shown to relieve anxiety, play the music of your choice.

3.  Take a walk    Any exercise can reduce stress, just don’t let yourself think about or do anything that causes stress.  Focus on your surroundings, listen to music.

4.  Write it out    Putting your stressful event down on paper may help unburden your mind, after reading it tear it up and throw it away.

5.  Customize your work space   Make your office or desk at work feel more like home.  Display snapshots of happy time of family and friends.  Put fresh flowers on your desk.

6.  Breath deeply Take deep cleansing breaths a few times a day, this will help to clear your mind and relieve tension.

 Stinky Feet

You may not think you have a foot-odor problem, but your spouse or your buddies may disagree.  The more your feet sweat, the more your shoes retain moisture.  Odor-causing fungus likes to grow in those moist environments.  What to do, if you wear tennis shoes, rotate two pairs, so one has a chance to dry out.  Avoid cotton socks, which absorb moisture, running or exercising in cotton socks is like running on a wet sponge.  After showering soak you feet in warm water with a few tablespoons of Epson salts which is a drying agent.

Get your Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz’s

Don’t cheat on your sleep; there is no set amount of sleep that is best for everyone.  People vary greatly in their need for sleep.  On average, adults sleep 7 hours a night during the workweek.  Most people compensate by sleeping longer on weekends, a switch guaranteed to keep your body clock confused.

The price we pay for cheating sleep is steep:  short-changing the brain of learning potential, short circuiting your moods and dimming your alertness, it can even make you gain weight and compromise your health.  Coffee can keep you going for a while, but nothing can compensate for sleep.  Your body needs it and your brain needs it.

Sweet Dreams.
