When
it was suggested that I write an article for NOIBIN, my first thought
was to communicate on a specific area for courier work. Instead, I decided on an introduction of Quicksilver, myself,
and how I became a member of TAMI.
Quicksilver
was founded in 1982, by eight individuals, one who is currently the
CEO of Quicksilver Inc. Mike Crary, in Minneapolis St. Paul. Five of the original founders still work full time for
Quicksilver today. We
currently service five major metropolitan areas: Denver CO., Kansas
City, MO., Kansas City, KS., Phoenix AZ., Milwaukee, WI, and
Minneapolis/St. Paul MN. Currently,
Quicksilver employs over 1,000 internal customers and completes
thousands of deliveries on a daily basis.
I was hired as the first full
time Order Entry Person when the Milwaukee office opened in 1990.
The
entry level position offered me
the opportunity to enhance my skill set and perform various roles
within the Quicksilver organization. During my tenure, I’ve held
positions as: Office
Manager, Operations Manager and currently, General Manager.
Also, during my tenure I’ve been fortunate to sustain long
term business relationships with many of our customers most notably, a
fifteen year relationship with Rexnord/Falk;
Ken Feller’s encouragement
lead me to become a member of TAMI.
In
the beginning, courier service was our primary niche in the Milwaukee
market. However, since we
opened 18 years ago, we have diversified our services and equipment to
become a leader in the transportation industry in Milwaukee.
